Call for Proposals: A Neighborly Conversation: Disability Studies in West Los Angeles
We invite you to participate in an upcoming Disability Studies conference hosted by The Coelho Center at Loyola Marymount University. This conference will highlight faculty and student research in Disability Studies at both LMU and UCLA, and will include opportunities to engage with local organizations and community members working to serve the disabled community in west L.A.
The conference will feature a keynote by Juliann Anesi of UCLA, Assistant Professor of Gender Studies, and remarks from the Honorable Tony Coelho, LMU alum, former representative from California, and primary author and sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The conference theme is “A Neighborly Conversation” and our Call for Proposals is broad. The goal is to highlight research and practice at both campuses to inspire, build connections, and strengthen the presence of disability studies in our corner of Los Angeles. To that end, we invite papers, workshops, and posters on one or more of the following topics:
– faculty research in disability studies and adjacent fields
– student research in disability studies and adjacent fields
– staff-coordinated projects related to disability studies, disability rights, and/or disability justice
– community services for people with disabilities, their families, and/or
– community activism in service of disability rights and/or disability justice
