Disability Studies is a young field in the United States, with the first program emerging in 1994 at Syracuse University. In 2007, UCLA spearheaded a minor in Disability Studies Minor. Due to a dedicated group of faculty, the Disability Studies major became effective in Fall 2023. To celebrate the growth of Disability Studies from minor to major, we have videos introducing some of our faculty administrative members. We invite you to learn about the work faculty engage in to understand and uplift the past, present and future of the disability community.
