A Neighborly Conversation: Disability Studies in West Los Angeles

We invite you to participate in an upcoming Disability Studies conference hosted by The Coelho Center at Loyola Marymount University. This conference will highlight faculty and student research in Disability Studies at both LMU and UCLA, and will include opportunities to engage with local organizations and community members working to serve the disabled community in west L.A.

The conference will feature a keynote by Juliann Anesi of UCLA, Assistant Professor of Gender Studies, and remarks from the Honorable Tony Coelho, LMU alum, former representative from California, and primary author and sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Additional Conference Information

1. The program, all presenter abstracts, and access copies (once available) can be found in the conference Box.
2. The conference will be held in University Hall at Loyola Marymount University. University Hall is located where LMU Drive meets Lincoln Blvd. Driving instructions are available.
3. Parking is available underneath University Hall. Simply drive through the gate in the “visitor” lane and turn right. Park on level P2 or P3, avoiding Faculty and Staff parking. Parking is $15. If you need financial assistance with parking, please complete this Parking Code Request form by 2/19.

5. This conference prioritizes access. Please avoid wearing fragrances. Make sure Deaf attendees and attendees using captions have visual access to interpreters and captions. Presenters, please share your papers and slide decks in advance by emailing us at disabilityarchive@lmu.edu. Make sure to provide visual descriptions of images or videos in your presentations. All attendees: as desks and tables move over the course of the day, be mindful to maintain wheelchair accessible pathways. All restrooms have accessible stalls.
