Out of Place: Marathon Reading
This event is the first in a public marathon-reading series planned for this Fall 2024 quarter. “Out of Place” is organized by a group of UCLA faculty in response to the recent regulations threatening academic freedom on our campus. Participants will recite parts of Edward Said’s memoir alongside other complementary texts on displacement and justice.
The first of these 24-hour readings will be held from 9 a.m. October 1 9 a.m. October 2 in the Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden. The Events Office has approved the permit and, as of now, the following departments/centers are co-sponsoring to offer support.
