In 2024, the UCLA Disability Studies Sports and Society Lab hosted a Rec Day series which aimed to enhance accessibility in sports and promote inclusive physical activities and games, particularly focusing on enabling participation among disabled youth. The series launched with the U.S. premier of the Japanese universal sport Takkyu Volley on April 27, 2024.

Lead Scientist for the Sports and Society Lab, Ariel Hernandez conducted a number of interviews with various members in the UCLA Disability Studies community. This interview features Michael Garafola, advisor for Sports and Society Lab and coordinator for UCLA Adaptive Rec.
