The UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute (UCLA LPPI) is a non-partisan research institute that seeks to inform, engage, and empower Latinos through innovative research and policy analysis. LPPI aims to promote equitable and inclusive policies that address the needs of the Latino community and advance social justice.
As part of LPPI’s efforts to support research, advocacy, and community-driven action, the Latino Data Hub was created as a reliable source of information about important issues facing Latinos. Using data from the Census Bureau, the Latino Data Hub has expanded to include disability as a new issue area. Data can now be disaggregated on hearing, vision, cognitive, ambulatory, self-care, and independent living difficulties.
As noted in their press release on Thursday, July 17th, Jie Zong, manager of the Latino Data Hub and senior research analyst at LPPI, shares that “This year’s additions reflect clear calls from the field—for better disability data, deeper educational insights, and more tools to assess structural risks like automation and access to transportation. We’ve made it easier than ever to surface community-specific insights that support real-world decision-making.”
“In an environment where federal data is becoming harder to access, it’s vital that public tools like ours continue to democratize information and protect visibility into Latino communities,” added Rodrigo Dominguez-Villegas, director of the Latino Data Hub and director of research at LPPI.
