High Performance Sport

ABOUT

This area of focus promotes and engages athletes, researchers, and practitioners of high-performance para sports, particularly at the world-class competitive level. This focus works to increase understanding and critically interrogate the following three interrelated topics.

  1. Organized competitive sports participation;
  2. The rise and development of specialized training regimes surrounding and incorporating assistive technology;
  3. Histories of marginalized athletic stories, experiences, and bodies within global sport.

Past events have centered on training and funding disruptions due to the rise of Covid-19 and the postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Summer Games; future programming will continue this direction in anticipation of the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Games.
