This Sport and Society Lab area of focus seeks to promote and engage athletes, researchers, and practitioners of high-performance para sports, particularly at the world-class competitive level. Activities and events in this section serve to increase understanding and critically interrogate competitive sports participation, the rise and development of specialized training regimes, and highlight marginalized athletic stories, experiences, and bodies within global sport. Past events have centered on training and funding disruptions due to the rise of Covid-19 and the postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Summer Games; future programming will continue this direction in anticipation of the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Games.
