Youth Sports and Coaching

ABOUT

This Sport and Society Lab area of focus is dedicated to calling attention toward the specific needs of disabled youth athletes and their coaches. Events in this section aim to spotlight the everyday demands (physical, psychological, and material) required in pursuit of sporting opportunities for young athletes. Although para sports are now well known (such as the Paralympic Games and Special Olympics), they are often directed to adults while knowledgeable coaches and support staff are still in short supply. This section pursues greater amplification and integration of young people with disabilities and their coaches, their experiences and expertise, in developing sporting opportunities accessible to all.
